WinXP Pro / BT Broadband Wireless Query
Hi to all,
I've experienced a bit of a wierd situation. Let me explain.
I recently had BT Broadband (option 2) installed, and received and setup the wireless router (BT Voyager 2094(?)). Whilst plugged into my PC via the supplied USB cable, the internet works fine.
The point is, I want that PC and another to be wirelessly connected so installed a wireless USB key in each PC.
The two machines "SEE" the wireless network, BUT both machines come up with "Limited or no connectivity", and are assigned IP Addresses in the range 169.254.x.x instead of 192.168.1.x.
DHCP is enabled on the router, and the router lists the mac addresses of both wireless cards in its client list, but no internet access. Haven't received the welcome pack from BT yet, and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Even though DHCP is supposed to be assigning IP addresses, it doesn't seem that it is. Have you tried assigning the IP addresses manually in the TCP/IP properties of the network connection on each PC. Assuming the router is 192.168.1.1, you would set one PC to 192.168.1.2 and the other PC to 192.168.1.3.
Let us know if that helps

Thanks for the reply. I did that, and set the default gateway to the router ip address, and the machines no longer came up with the "Limited or no connectivity", but still couldn't load web pages via names or ip addresses. Is this a router problem or am I missing something on the PC's?

PS The router is a BT Voyager 2091. The voyager website has no details / firmware for it.

Is there a status LED on the router showing that the wireless network is connected and another showing that the Internet is connected?
It would be worth double-checking that the PC can see the router over the wireless network. Go the command prompt and type ping 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your router's IP is). It should return a response. So then try pinging the DNS server of your ISP. If you don't know the IP for your ISP's DNS server, try ping www.microsoft.com - that will confirm whether your PC can make requests outside of your network via the router.
Let us know how you get on

Thanks for your comments - I've managed to get it working now - I had to change the router wireless channel from 6 to 11, then the workstations picked up the router and the correct ip settings. Thank you again.

Thanks for the update
