I have Bt broadband basic (512down/256up) and there are two people needing the internet (i use the main pc downstairs and Dad needs the laptop for work upstairs) problem is only one of us can be on the line at the one time. Im also going to build a new pc out of the old mobo and cpu etc and then i will have the main computer for myself, meaning there will now be 3 computers requiring a connection. [^]
What i want to know is how to use the internet with 3 computers simultaneously. I have heard a router is needed to 'split' the line so more than one person can use the line at one time. I would have the old computer downstairs hooked up to the line, and then would it be possible to link the other two systems (laptop and pc) wirelessly?
My friend has done this i think in his house and it seems to work well. What kind of hardware do i need to carry this out, and all in what kind of expense am i likely to be paying?
Will the current connection be quick enough to allow three users to browse at the same time or would i be better off upgrading to 2mb/sec as its not much more expensive? []
Thanks for the help guys.![]()

You won't have any problems however if you stick to 512, I had 4 pcs on a 512 connection.
