cant connect to wirlessnetwork after installing sp2

ok, so i finally got around to putting windows xp sp2 on my laptop today ( its been ofline for months) ive been trying to do it for a week or so, but it had to be plugged into the mains to install it, so and todays the first chance i've had.

since ive installed sp2, i cant connect to my wirless internet connection and i dont know why.

it finds the wirless network, starts to connect and then i get the following error:

"wireless connection status: Limited or no connection"

if i select more information i get

    "Limited or no connectivity

you might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer"

ive tried clicking repair, but it hangs at " reniewing your ip address" and then says:

"windows could not finnish repairing the problem because the following acttion cannot be completed: Reniewing your ip address for assistance, contact the person who manages your network"

its also says that if clicking repair does not respore connectivity, the problem might be with the network, not this computer. Contact the person who manages your network ( thast alot of good, because i do, and i havent got a clue

    Any ideas?

When you install SP2 it enables the XP Firewall by default. Try disabling the XP firewall and see if that resolves the problem.

thankyou anyway. ill prob be back when i install sp2 on my other pc, and it dosent work again

lol, about that limited or no connectivity, this may throw you off aol every so often..... 2 min fix (if you still have the icon with the yellow warning sign): right click the computer icon with the yellow warning sign, click proberties and un-tick the box saying something like warn me if there is limited or no connection. click apply or ok, when thats done, that icon should be gone.

    Hope this helps.
