Hi all:

One of the computers (a laptop) on our network has decided it won't connect to the network thru Windows, though it will via the command prompt. I've been working on it for hours, perhaps someone will have some insight.

The state of things:

Laptop with WindowsXP Home, SP 2. Firewall settings are off.
Home network has Cable Modem, Router, DHCP is assigned by a ZoneNet router. Other computers on the network continue to work fine.

SYMPTOMS:
In Windows
1) It won't connect to the web via a browser. IThe error is www.google.com could not be found...)
2) It won't connect to the network via the Windows explorer. (The error is Workgroup not accessible, path not found, possible permission problem)
3) It won't retrieve email
4) It will login to the router via a browser

In a Command Prompt:
1) I can run all of the ipconfig commands
2) I can ping the router, the DNS at our cable ISP, other computers on the network, and yahoo.

ATTEMPTED FIXES:
1) Many "ipconfig /release and /renew", restarts, including network equipment.
2) Plugging the computer directly into the ZoneNet Router/Switch
3) Reinstalling the Microsoft Network Client
4) System restore to 4 days ago (the computer was able to access the web yesterday).
5) I ran the "netsh winsock reset" command
6) I ran the netsh winsock reset catalog" command

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks much.

Mitch
