Hi Biadro. Do you actually have a network lead plugged into the back of your PC? A local area network (LAN) connection can only be connected through an Intel Pro/1000MT network card via a cable. If there's no cable, there's no need to worry.

As for the '1394 net adapter', that's also completely standard and nothing to worry about ....... though, to be honest, I can't remember what it actually means at the moment.

Hope that gets rid of your concerns about anything dodgy happening

I don't understand what the problem is here. Unplug the network lead and then you won't be connected to anyone else. Your PC could still have an IP address but, if the lead isn't plugged in, then your PC can't be linked to anything.

Incidentally, what's on the other end of the network cable?! Whatever you find at the other end is what you've made a network with!

Physical address 00-11-D8-2A-32-EB ...... will be your NIC address

IP Address 192.168.*.*** is the IP address of your PC on the network

as DJNafey says just unplug the network cable.........

you maybe wont have the internet as the network cable is your connection to the outside world

biadro, it looks like you have a router. Is that true? If you have a cable modem, connected to a router and your computer connected to the router. Then yes you are on a network. Your own private network. The network would consist of the router and your computer and any other computer connected to the router. The job of a router is to connect to networks. In your case a Private network (192.168.*.*) and the Internet "network". The router acts as a firewall too, preventing any traffic from reaching your computer, that your computer hasn't asked for (in theory, with the correct settings). If that is your current scenario, then there is nothing to worry about, that is how it should be.
