hi everyone, im new to this forum, so hi all to whoever sees this

neway on to the problem.. i have a laptop and a desktop,
desktop: winxp pro
laptop: winxp home
router: SMC baracuda

have them connected on cat5 cables..
i did all the network wizard stuff and they were succesful..

basically i want to be able to share files back n forth on the computers
but the problem is very similar to ROMs in this thread

i need to enable and start the Computer browser service so that my laptop can access my desktop (my desktop can access the laptop already)

yes i did read this thread n tried it.. however i got stuck on the Workstation part

before i touched this workstation thing.. it was on automatic n started.. but the computer browser still couldnt be started n keeps giving me the error 1068... neway after reading ROM's thread... i thot of restarting the workstation thread.. then it wouldnt start nemore n now it gives me a "Windows could not start the workstation on local computer. for more information, review the system event log. if this is a non-microsoft service, contact...... error code 2250"

first... where can i find the windows system event log? on ROMs thread it says control panel, admin tools.. but i dont see it there >_<

can someone plz help me get my computer browser running? thank you so much in advanced

EDIT: the workstation is up and running again, all it needed was a restart n i guess the comptuer jus put it back online. neway the comp browser service is still off :S

ok so i got the computer browser service running and i can share my folders now.. however, its only one way. still.. i see the two computers in my network.. (the laptop and PC, before it was jus the laptop) but when i try to access the PC from laptop.. it says

"\\NAME is not accesible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."

what else do i need to do in my desktop to fix this? ive turnd on file sharing on all NICs.. enabled all NetBIOS.. all services needed are up and started/running..

hm.. help plz?
