Help, trying to get Broadband on my Laptop..

Ive got a cable modem for Broadband internet. It has two ports, one thernet and one USB. The Ethernet is connected to the main PC and im trying to use the USB for the Laptop.

Every time i go through the setup procedure, it gives me an error message right before it finishes. It say that it was "unable to renew the network IP address for you computer..."

The network adapters i have are:

"Realtek TRL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC"

    "1394 Net Adapter"

NEither of them work, it keeps saying to check my connections, but they're all fine.

    Please help me.

Are you using a router or is the modem combined with a router?

I doubt you'll be able to use both USB and ethernet at the same time.
You may be able to connect your PC by USB and use a crossover cable to connect from your lan on your PC to your laptop
or get a router about £12.00 and connect up that way using ethernet cables
