router loses internet
I recently hooked up a linksys wrt54g wireless router for my friend. I had it for about a year and it's worked great. Upon connecting/configuring it we started surfing.
if we leave the system idle for about 10 minutes we're unable to get anything off the internet. If I go into the router and release/renew the dhcp it'll work for another 10 or so minutes. any ideas out there. I've checked cables even though the link lights stay on. TIA

How many pc's are on the network?
What operating systems are they running?
Have you checked that firewalls are not interferring?
What firewall are you using? (If not using the xp one have you disabled it?)
Have you got WEP enabled?

What version and Firmware is your WRT54G? I have worked on Zyxels in Geneva that have a timeout period built into the firmware so as not to violate any system "Faire Use" rules. (It was set to 10 min and was changed to 999 to make it unlimited) This is done inside the Firmware of the router.

Follow this link and look down at the section step4, Configure the router. It has a Keep alive setting or max idle time. Default is 5 minutes, but can be changed. Linksys recommends the keep alive option instead of connect on demand. Try this out.
