Angry Networking 2 pc's for gaming

Hi guys, pls help me!!! Im tryin 2 connect my 2 pc's up so they can both b used 4 on-line gaming. Was told 2 buy another 2 ethernet cards & a link up cable, done that. All fitted & linked up,done the wizard on them both, says im connected on the 2nd pc but cant on the net with it?? Had a m8 come round (who has linked his 2 pc's up) & even he couldnt sort it?? He seems 2 think that my 2 ethernet cards in pc1 r conflicting?? All 3 cards are of the same type, i have the proper cables & both pc's are running XP. Can i get an ethernet card with 2 ports on it or am i going totaly wrong somwhere else??? Pls help as this has been driving me crazy for wot seems like an eternity, lol. Thanx

Why do you need 2 ethernet cards in the same pc? One is enough. Have you enabled internet connection sharing?

To be honest we need more info to help you....... which is the client and which is the host? Do you want to share files and a printer? Well it could be a conflict with network cards........ The only other thing is a firewall problem......

Thanx 4 the reply. I got ma main broadband going into 1 ethernet card & a link up cable from my 2nd card going to pc2. I bought a home network starter kit if that helps? It came with 2 ethernet cards & all cables. I have set pc1 as the host pc as its much more powerfull & iv turned off both firewalls. Im running service pack 1 on pc1 (with all updates) but havnt got any microsoft updates on pc2 (cos i cant get it on net) could this be the problem?? Or do i even need them?? Thank u very much in advance 4 any help u can give...Gaz

Why arent you using a broadband router? Then you have only one Nic in each machine and you dont throttle your bandwidth to the 2nd machine?

Router isnt that difficult really (my opinion)

Regarding your probs with the network connection:

Can u ping PC A from PC B and vice versa ?

    Ok,

can you post the IP addresses, DNS servers and Gateways of both machines ?
Just want to make sure they are all in the same segment and donīt need changes in the Gateway address for example

To make it more easy, please post me an "ipconfig/all" of both machines here
