    the Game server blues

    Hi All, im a newbie
i am try to run game server, but no-one can see me in the server list.
the game is Hidden & Dangerous 2

    i have a BT-Yahoo 1MB connect using a Voyager 205 router connect thro LAN

ive been asking around for help for ages, and this site looks intelligent enough to help me.

from what i understand my computer has an IP address and the router has its own IP address, thats why nobody can connect because of the router IP address being in the way.

ive tried BT-Yahoo help and they tell me all their customers routers have the same IP , so they cant help me

other server Admins i have spoken to cant help me as the`ve not had the same problem,

    Any help appreciated

from me and the clan i belong to §NR§

    thanks crusti

hi there crust welcome to dal the online computer help forum

if you have neither a netgear nor a linksys (or they aren't setup with the default ip add.) a simple way to figure out the router's ip add is to goto the command prompt... type 'ipconfig /all' and find the ip address associated with the default gateway. type that ip address into IE or your favorite browser and see what pops up... (most SOHO routers/firewalls will give you some kind of info identifying the box <e.g. linksys routers usually popup with a window entitled with the model number>). google any info you find with happy phrases such as "default password"

if you need further help please get back to me

    hope this helps

thanks for your response Spud, and sorry for taking my time getting back to you

i have followed your instructions and typed in IP to explorer.
it brought up a page of info and som tests for BT 205 voyager router (i had seen before but dont understand)
    all test passed except,
PPPoE server PPPoE connection and PPPoE server session come up N.A.
Ping Primary Domain Name Server Fails

assigned IP address changes each time i run test
and default gateway 217.47.72.58 and this seems to be permanent.

im not sure what to do next really,
do i need to make a change of IP address on compuer, or on router ?

( i think im in over my head, bring back vic20, never had these probs)

    thanks for youre help Spud

    but im geting more confused

i have opened ports 11001-11004 on my XP firewall, and i think i need to change them on my router.

I have visited the page where i can configure my router,
but this page doesnt allowed me to do anything accept run test`s
i need a password from BT to go to the page to change router (yovager205)settings and BT will not give me that password as they do think thats problem.

i also took your advice and look on other forums, i came across an answer similar to problem which said i need to switch on "IP forwarding".
but again this needs to be done thro internet settings page for router
have you come across this "IP forwarding" berfore?

anyway i will keep on to BT for help, after all they take my money without any probs

i will post again if i get any info that i can pass on to you.

    Thanks for your help/time

    Crusti

BTYahoo are "fXXkXXG" useless, i dont think thier EXPERTS know/understand the problem.
the more i look in to it, i find more ppl have the same trouble but other ISP`s dont lock the setting page, so ppl can help themselves.

anyway this has some good help,

im sorry if i seem to be posting to much but this page has all the answers. (i think)

    http://corz.org/comms/hardware/route...ter.how-to.php

i hope it will help everyone on BT, as they cant/wont help.
    cheers crusti

(maybe BTYahoo`s new slogan could be "Cant Help. Wont Help" , each user brings them £40 a month and they spend it, leaving you with a half cooked service.)
