My problem sounds similar to others, but I was unable to follow the solutions posted. I have a Windows XP PC with a NetGear Wireless USB connector to a Netgear Wireless Router to a Cable Modem.

On startup, the Netgear Adapter utility icon in the System Tray shows no signal. I open the utility, click OK and the signal is great. This is a little annoying but tolerable.

The real problem is with the Windows Wireless Network Connection. Once the signal is 'turned on', the connection shows as "Limited or No Connection". If I click the "Repair" button everything ends up OK as the connection resets. This is a recent change as the Windows connection used to comes up whenever a signal was there.

My troubleshooting of the limited connection has uncovered no default GW address and no DNS address. These are supposed to be generated automatically. How can I get this connection to come up automatically?

why not choose to turn off the windows low/ no connectivity message? only appears on sp2. go to start > connect to > show all connections. right click the connection and go to properties and remove the tick at bottom of the screen to remove the notification message. i work for an ISP people phone complaining about this all the time, i just show them how to turn off!!

Not sure on that particular setup but can you not set the network adaptor to auto detect/scan the network when windows starts up? that is what i have done for my own network

Thanks Scott. That fixed the message, but I still had to repair the link to be able to connect. I found the full fix with a new Netgear Driver for my Wireless Adapter that addresses XP and SP2 'innovations'. Now the Netgear link comes up automatically and the Windows Wireless Connection does too.

I have just bought AOL's silver broadband package, but want to go wireless. I have a Dell 2350 wireless router but cannot connect the AOL modem (BT's Voyager 105) to the router, as described in the set-up manual because the modem connects to my laptop using a USB cable, and the wireless router doesn't have a connector for this. Do I need to connect the modem to the router, or am I able to connect to AOL broadband using just the wireless router?
As you have probably gathered, I am hopelessly out of my depth with anything technical!

I'm having the same type problem with my new D-Link DI-624 Wireless Router and D-Link PCI DWL-G520 Wireless network card! I'm using WinXP and SP2 and I have disabled the "Wireless Zero Configuration". so I'm only using the D-Link software. When I boot my computer i get a nice connetion on the D-Link software in the "Tray" but the Wireless network icon showes "limited or no connection" Each time I have to repair the connection to get it working, which is not a nice solution! it seems that the WLAN PCI Card is not getting an IP address on start-up.
I have read a lot of postes on the web stating that WinXP-SP2 is to blame and that MS is NOT doing anything about this problem, only releasing a lot of fixes that do not work!!

Have you found a sloution since you posted your request??
