Cant get computer to realize its on a network
Ive setup a few wireless networks with netgear products and most of them work well, but the last one I setup is still giving me problems. Its just a simple setup, Cable modeum into Wireless-G Router And the router is connected by ethernet to computer A. Computer A works fine on the internet throught the router, and the router seems to be working fine. Then I install this Wireless-g usb adaptor onto computer B, and it appears to have been installed right. Netgear's wirelesss network uttility runs, and select our network, and I enter in my WEP passphrase and connect to the network. Computer B now appears to be on the network but it is really not. The internet doesnt work on computer B, computer B can't ping the other computer and the router does not show computer B to be on the network. When I type in ipconfig/all it lists the netgear wireless adaptor but it doesnt have a LAN ip address like 192.168.0.2 Instead it gives an external ip address like a computer would when its not connect to a router or on a LAN. Somehow this computer does not realize that is connect to a LAN. Anyone know how I can make it realize that its on a LAN?

If you've still got this problem, have you checked that both PCs are in the same workgroup (right-click Network Neighborhood or My Network Places and check the Properties screen).

Please elaborate, how were you able to fix it? What steps did you take?
