Smile Using Wireless Modem/Router for broadband basic

My friend has Broadband Basic with a BT modem which will only run at the master socket because the telephone wiring in the house is not segregated enough from power cables.
So we are proposing to put a wirelessmodem/router at the master socket (possibly Belkin) and fit a wireless device at the PC (either usb or pci) to make the link, the PC is about 25 metres away.
This means setting everything up from the remote PC and signing on from this PC.
I want to check that this is a valid way of doing it before buying the kit.
appreciate any comments or additional information.
