First time poster, be gentle.

I have just got NTL broadband. The modem is downstairs in my housemate’s room, connected to his PC. I have put Ethernet cards in the back of both of our machines, and connected the wire from one to the other.

What next?

Is it possible to get an Internet connection in my room this way?

Also, I have a 2-socket adaptor for the output on the modem. Can I run 2 phone lines from the modem into both PCs???

My knowledge of computers is quite basic, so if anyone can describe in detail how I can do this, I'd really appreciate it
