Can I share my ADSL link with another PC
Yesterday, I received ancd connected up my Supanet Broadband ADSL modem in an out-building in my garden, from where I work.
An ADSL 'Micro Filter' plugs into the BT phone line and it has two sockets. My phone/fax plugs into one of the sockets and a long cable plugs into the other. The long cable goes into a 'Zoom' series USB modem and the USB cable from this goes into my PC.
I have another PC in my house [right next door to the out-building]. I currently connect to the internet using dial-up and, at best, get 31,200 bps connection.
Is there any way that I could somehow use the fast ADSL line remotely whilst on my 'home' PC?
Any advice gratefully received!!

I am not sure if this is what you meant. If you are thinking of using a splitter in 99% of cases the service provider will not allow more than one IP address to be assigned to the same location.
You can share the ADSL connection by networking the pcs with a crossover cable. The downside of using a crossover cable is that the host pc must be left on for the client pc to be able to access the internet. Alternatively you can buy a router, then both pc's can access the net independently.

Jaynees on the right track. Essentially the first thing you want to do is network the two PCs and then add a method of sharing the broadband. The method Jaynee describes uses a feature of Windows caled Internet Connection SHaring or ICS. The other option is to replace your ADSL modem with a combined ADSL modem/router which will allow you to plug multiple PCs into it and each will be able to make use of the ADSL line as well as network withy each other. The advantage of this is that the Internet connection is not dependant on either PC being on. Decent ones can be had for about £40 from places like ebuyer.com

Yes I think using a router is a much better idea. I have 5 pc's networked in this way. They can all access each others files and can all share the printer. (this can be a bit scary at times as the printer is right by my side and suddenly it starts printing out stuff that has nothing to do with me.)
There is always the wireless option to go with. A special wireless router/modem must be purchased and wireless adapters fitted in each pc. I would like to do this as I am sick of wires trailing all over the house..........but I can't afford it at the moment.

heh last week this was $28 ( before rebate )
http://www.buy.com/retail/Product_ju...mp&dcaid=17260
anyway , you can still gat a $20 rebate from rebateshq.com on it
atvantage is that it also has a 4 port 10/100 switch so you dont need to get a bunch of wireless adapters right away.

if you go down the wireless router route (thats a tonge twister by the way ) please be aware that there are security issues that you have to think a bout!
