I have 2 computers, each running xp. ( pc 1 is in living room, pc2 is in bedroom)
both have ethernet cards.
I just bought a router, so that i could share my cable modem connection between both of them, and so i could easily transfer large files between them.
hooked everything up the right way. using xp's home network set up wizard.
now when im on pc 2, and try to look at files on pc 1's shared folders, i get the following pop up
"\\SPYDER\ MY DOCUMENTS is not accesseble. you might nto have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrater of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
the network path was not found"
now earlier in the day, this network did work and i was able to transfer files. I dont knwo what happened either.
Here are some things to check.
Are both computers in the same workgroup?
Do they both have the same subnet mask?
Are both computers turned on?
Are you running a firewall?
What are the IP adresses for both computers? Are they in the same network?
