nvidia graphics card stopped being recognised!

I purchased a desktop from ebay with the asus m4a78lt-m motherbaord in it and an nvidia gt240 graphics card, for the first 6 months i had no problem but then the graphics card stopped being recognised preventing me from completing vital final year project work for university degree. I attmepted to reinstall the drivers from the disc and update everything possible, yet nothing worked, when trying to update the driver it says "this graphics driver could not find compatible hardware". I attempted to contact nvidia but they state on their website to contact the motherboard maker for technical help, yet they would not reply...

I AM DESPERATE FOR ANY IDEAS TO FIX THIS, HELP!!!

    Welcome to D-A-L.

Try removing the physical card and reinserting it in the motherboard slot a couple of times. This should help in removing any "tarnish" or oxides from the contacts. Also do the same with any cable connections for the card.

    Post back with your results.
