Hi, this is my first post so apologies if I don't go about things the right way. I've got no sound on my parents desktop after a recent OS re-install.
I'm hoping I've included enough info here that someone will be able to advise me where I can find the right audio driver/controller (not sure of the correct terminology) but all I know is that there's a yellow question mark next to 'media audio controller' in device manager and no sound when I try and use things like Spotify etc. Can anyone help please?
Thanks for any help with this....

Welcome to D-A-L.
Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition (CLEAN FreeWare) on this machine. Once it's finished loading and running, look under;
MOTHERBOARD
Post what is listed for your Motherboard (make/model) and the Motherboard Chipset description.
Computer, Summary, Display, or under Display, PCI/AGP Video. This will tell you what display adapter/chip you have. (Video Adapter and 3D Accelerator.)
Multimedia, or, under Multimedia, PCI / PnP Audio. This will tell you what sound devices you have available on your system.
Post that information exactly as presented by the program.
(NOTE: You may only need the Multimedia section information.)
Thanks a lot Dan, your reply is much appreciated. I think I've done what you suggested although there seems to be loads of information below. I hope you can make sense of it and help me out with the problem I've got i.e. no sound/audio controller missing. Have I included all the info that's required? Many thanks.Originally Posted by Dan Penny

Next time I'm over at my folks place I'll do it (I'm currently at my own place and forgot I'm not using the pc I need to find the audio controller for lol). Sorry about that. I won't be going to see my parents for at least a week now so if you don't mind I'll refresh the thread and post the relevant details for their pc when I'm at their place which will be next weekend (most likely).

Sounds good. I (or someone else) will see the info and get back to you with either a file/source locatiom for the drivers.
Try this link. (Under English: wdm3516b_Cadenza.exe)
Intel® Desktop Board D845GRG*Audio: AC 97 ADI*
If that doesn't work, I have another which I can copy to the D-A-L site for you to upload.

Thanks a lot Dan, I'll try it out on my folks pc next time I'm there. Much appreciated.
I'll be looking for your reply on whether it worked.
