Question Boo: External Hard Drive w/ D and E Drives

I am using my old hard drive as an external hard drive and every time I plug it into my USB port, 2 different windows pop up and I'm quite sick of it. There is a D drive and an F drive. I only want/need one main folder/drive (correct terminology??) And also, the external drive often refuses to eject, so I was told to format. Do I format both drives?? I decided to and it said I could change fat32 to NTSF on the D drive, but this is over my head.

I think I want to delete a partition, right?? I want to delete the D and keep the F? But how do you do that? Can I do this by formatting both drives and changing D to NTSF? This is over my head.

You can delete a partition using Disk Management Utility

Right click My Computer and select Manage
In that window select Disk Management
How on Disk Management can be found here
How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP

    Hope that helps
