    DVD drive not reading/loading discs

Hi...I have a problem with my laptop. It may seem simple but then again I am not a computer expert. I just bought a laptop and the dvd drive was working fine, reading and loading any discs just fine. Then I installed my printer for which I had to use the cd software and it didn't install a component for the scanner correctly, so I uninstalled it to install it again but when I did I must of erased some kind of file or disactivated something and now the dvd drive won't load discs nor read them, can you tell me where I can go to activate it again or what I have to do to get it working again please. The laptop is brand new so I'm sure it is not broken, just something that I might have erased or something...thank you very much!

    What is your Operating System?

    I'd suggest two initial options:

    1) Try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

    2) Go to the Device Manager and uninstall your DVD drive then reboot/restart.

right click My Computer the click Manage then Device Manager:

click the + next to DVD/CD rom drives and choose to uninstall your drive.

Not the drivers but the drive itself.

On a reboot/restart Windows will reload the drivers for your drive.
