Ah, you have the problom i had before, you can go to device manager and check the usb ports, if it says that every thing is fine, then you need to reinstall windows, if it says that it is damaged, or not insttlled, then try to let windows install it for you, if it says it can't find the driver, google will help you find new drivers, once you do that, install and restart then youll be onyour way. or the usb port`s and or usb devices are dusty, have you checked that, HAVE YOU?

@64bitgenius: It is way too soon to advise a windows reinstall. Reinstalling windows is a last resort fix to most problems. Other things can & should be checked first.

First I need to know if you have tried other devices. If you haven't please do. Second if this is a new problem & other devices don't work I would try a system restore point to before when your problem started. Next you need to try & reinstall the drivers which need to be from the manufacturer. If you tell us more about your we can try to help you find your chipset drivers. So what is the make/model of your computer or the motherboard? If you don't know you can try our hardware scan. After that you can try to reset your CMOS settings to the manufacturer's default settings through the BIOS. You should be able to get into that by repeatedly hitting delete when your computer is booting after starting/restarting your computer. If it starts booting windows you are too late. That is enough to try for now. Let us know how this goes.

I notice you have not returned to take aboard the good suggestions from townbg- Perhaps you could let us know if you need more assistance with your USB ports.

If you take a look at this link from here, it may assist you in enabling your USB ports again.

    kind regards,

    Hi Friend,
Here are some steps to solve your problem . first Turn Off your PC. Unplug it. This apparently clears any residual power on the motherboard. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes. Reconnect everything, boot up your PC and your USB ports and devices should be working again!

    Thanks,
    James
