    ialmdev5.DLL Please Help!

    Hi there,

I have recently bought and installed Sims 3.
However everytime I go to create a new sim the screen freezes, turns blue with write writing.

It says something about a file: 'ialmdev5.DLL PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    stop: 0x00000050 (0xE28B4000, 0x00000001, 0xBF04963F, 0x00000001)
    ialmdev5.DLL- address BF04963F base at BF043000 datastamp 44230744

I have alsolutly no idea what this means, but after looking it up online I found a couple of people who had been having the same problem. However they were just told to update there video driver. I've tried this a few times and it hasn't changed anything!

    Can someone please help me...

Download fresh driver from here: Drivers and Downloads
    Do nothing about it, yet.

    Go Start>Run, type in:
    devmgmt.msc
    Click OK.

    Device Manager will open.
    Expand Display adapters
Right click on listed there Intel adapter.
    Click Properties, then Driver tab.
    Click Uninstall button.

    Install freshly downloaded driver.
    Restart computer.

Ok, I've done what you suggested.
Tried to load up Sims 3 and the same thing happened except a slightly different code came up.

    Sorry for being a pain..

I took a note of the full message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ialmdev5.DLL

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart your computer.
If this screen appears again then follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware of software manufacture for any windows update you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advance start up options then select safe mode.

    Technical Infomation:

    ***stop: 0x0000005 (0xE2AC6000, 0x00000001, 0xBF04963F, 0x00000001)

    ***ialmdev5.DLL - address BF04963F base at BF043000, datastamp 44230744

That took ages to type.. ha!

Any chance you know what the above means??

    Open Windows Explorer.
    Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.
Vista users You may need to copy .dmp files, paste them into some other folder, or desktop, and zip them there.
