    Everex Lm7wz Audio Driver problems

Hi guys and gals i am pulling my hair out here! I am working on an Everex StepNote LM7WZ. The audio was working properlly. I just reformatted and I cannot get the aduio drivers to install. I keep getting error code 39. Before i formatted it i found a folder on the root of the c: drive with drivers in it, I though how convenient! They all work properlly except the audio. I have also tried to download the audio driver off of the site everex.com with no luck still. This is day two on this problem, I have never had such a bad driver problem. Any help would be forever appericated!

What happens when you install their driver?

Everex - Personal Computers Since 1983

Did you use their recovery methods for reinstalling XP?

thank you for the quick reply. when i install the drivers i restart and i get a pop-up on the taskbar that says a problem occured during instlation, this device might not work properlly. or something to that effect. I tried to download the manual, but it was a broken link. i am unaware of any recovery methods for this pc. I should also note that the cd-rom is broken on this notebook, so i have to take the hard drive out of this one and put it into another laptop to format and install windows xp, which I have done twice now. The second time i made sure i installed the chipset drivers first. I am aware of the windows hot fix for sp2 as well, however what i did was install sp2, install chipset rivers, reboot, install audio drivers, reboot (still nothing), download sp3 via windows update, reboot, still nothing. Is it becase i am using another pc to do the install? as soo as it is done i switch the hard drive out, and if that is the issue, why are the other drivers working? should i... format, install sp2, install the hotfix, and then install the audio drivers? I am completely lost on what step tp take next. I have googled, and googled, and see that alot of people are having the same issue as me, but none of their pc specs were the same as mine. It has to be fixable, i just am not sure how lol. any input you may have is greatly apericated, i am willing to try anything. thank you for takng the time to post back. any soloution besides taking a hammer to it will be tried on my end. thanks again, C.

Yes. This is technically not a proper installation.

XP needs to be installed on the motherboard that runs it.

I'd say the fact that your other drivers work is pure luck.

Anyway the audio driver is one of the basic drivers on a motherboard. If your motherboard is not aware that you reinstalled XP then it likely is rejecting the driver.

If you were not provided with a recovery CD there should be a recovery partition on the original hard drive.

If this laptop was made within the last 2 or 3 years it might be able to boot from USB hence you could reinstall XP from an external USB drive.

The next suggestion is to replace your CD drive and reinstall XP properly

well i was going to try to put in a new cd-rom but i couldnt figure out how to get it out, i had all the screws i could find out, (even the ones under the monitor) but something was still holding on, and lol i also already tried to install from usb, but i could not get it to work. this computer can boot from usb though. you have any good tuts for booting from usb, or to take this thing apart? they wanted a new cd-rom anyway, and money isnt an issue. LOL i told him to buy a new laptop cause i hated this thing! well that makes me feel a little more at ease, if you have a tut for either of the metioned above, i would greatly appericate it, and i will donate 5% of my earnings to this site if i can fix it.

I can find no instructions for opening it. You might try a local laptop service shop.

But it sounds like you are not the owner yourself?

Also cross posting forums is very unproductive to help volunteers.

I am at my wits end with this driver please help!

Nothing disappoints me on the internet. Not even sentences I cannot comprehend.

if on dont post on ad now that i feel content now will ya
If you want that laptop to work properly you need to have a bootable device in place.

You will also need a unique Windows Product Key for that computer or else purchase a new OS.

You could always go with Linux for free.

sorry for the sentence, typing on the cell phone is a bit tough. I took your advice and purchased a new ide optical drive for this notebook through newegg. although i thought the price would be a tad cheaper than they are. I also have a unique product key for xp pro that will pass wga. I have never tried linux, although i might sometime when i get bored. how is it anyway?

    D-A-L on a phone?

Take a look at our Linux section:

Linux Help - D-A-L Computer Help

I have only ever used Ubuntu. The guys in that section know much more than I do.

Feel free to ask questions there and you will certainly get replies.
