    F drive

First of all, pardon my terminology I don't always use the correct words.

I purchased a refurbished desktop HP computer from the local college where the students have done this to learn and then sell the computers. I also have another desktop.

I don't know exactly what is or isn't on the refurbed computer, it seems basic like you just bought it at a chain store.

I have what I believe is called a portable drive that enables me to copy documents from one computer, remove the device (portable drive), plug it into the other computer and paste the document there.

I know the device works since I have used it between my older desktop and laptop.
I tried to use it in the refurbed computer and nothing happens.

I would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

    What is the operating system?

    Do any USB devices work?

    Windows Vista, I think.
Not sure about other USB drives. Give me an example of something to test/check.
    Thanks!

Right click on My Computer then click Properties.

This will tell you your Operating System.

Vista is only about a year and a half old and I doubt it would be on an old computer.

Anyway as to USB: anything that connects via USB. A camera for example.
