    Unhappy GeForce mx440 + SIMS 2 + DirectX

    What a ****tail!
    1) Recently I updated to XP2.
    2) Installed SIMS2 (with some difficulties) and updated to DirX9c.
    3) Then the DirX wouldn't play with my GeForce mx 440!
    4) Downloaded new drivers directly from Nvidia, but the cannot be installed - XP won't allow due to security reasons!
    5) Download + install from Windows Update will not work either.
Apparently the DirectX 9c needs fresh video drivers, so now I'm stuck with old drivers on my vcard and an undetectable version of DirX AND the new SIMS2 which won't work without any of them!
I have lots of (read:enough) power on the machine: 1,67GHz, 512 RAM + 128 on the video card and 50 free Gb on the hd.
    Can someone please help?

Why cant you install the new drivers? Because of your firewall?

I had problem like that once so I just disabled firewall and Virus protections.
And the driver installation worked. Just dont forget to turn them back on after you are done.

    Hi Jari.
Thanks for your reply, but it wasn't the firewall or the antivirus programme that caused the trouble. It was XP itself that wouldn't allow the installation! XP claimed that there was no digital signature on the NVIDIA driver although it was downloadable the Windows Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somehow I managed to overrule the demand for digisign and then I could install the driver.
I got quite furious when I found out that WU itself offers stuff without the digisign that apparently is SO important these days.
