    Red face No multimedia audio controller

    I am not a computer whiz. I think that is going to become quite evident to the person who helps me.

    I am trying to fix the sound on my daughter's computer. I messed it up when I was deleting stuff to make more room on the hard drive.

    I downloaded Everest. I have searched and downloaded a few things and nothing worked. I don't want to mess this up anymore than I have.

    I will post the summary from Everest. If you need more, just holler!

    Welcome to D-A-L.

    I'll attach the zip file that contains the required files.

    Extract the (two) files to an empty directory. Right click on the oem34.inf file and choose INSTALL. You may have to restart your machine.

    If it still doesn't work, reinstall your chipset drivers. Available from here;

    Post back with your results and any further questions.

    Dan,

    If I could kiss you, I would!!!

    When I restarted the computer and it made a sound, my daughter gave a whoop!

    Thanks so very much. You have saved me from an embarassing joke at the holidays.

    Ent
