Unhappy no drivers for sound device

hello, i have very recently installed windows XP professional in my computer and cannot work out my problem with the sound card. the device manager tells me i do not have the drivers installed and i am having a very hard time locating what i need. my computer is a gateway 500SE and if i go to system information i find that my sound device is a " unimodem half-duplex audio device". i am also missing my network controller drivers as well as those for my USB controller but my present priority is for sound. any help would be more than helpful and greatly appreciated. thank you in advance for taking the time to help.-

Gateway has all the drivers you need.

    http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp

Insert the required ID info and you should get your drivers.

Just BTW: the unimodem is an audio driver Microsoft provides for voice modems.

thanks man! that helped out a great deal. the only one i didn't get worked out is for the "network controller" and since everything seems to be going all right, i'm not even sure what exactly it would do :S oh and thanks for the little side note...you know stuff like that is why i'm a green-horn and you know what you're doing thanks for the help and if you have a minute i'd take any available input on my loose-end. also, i have the "AVG" free edition and spybot search and destroy tea timer always going, is there any other anti-spyware/protection of any kind you might recommend? thanks again-

The only other tool I use is Spyware Blaster:

That should be all you need. Having too much of this stuff is not good.

So you see a Network Controller as an Unknown / Other Device?

Could just be an anomaly if all is well.

Sometimes the combination of hardware and software throws out these little mysteries.

This computer I am using has always had an Interrupt Controller it could never find.
