I've now found the make and model of the laptop.

It is a ECS System. Notebook. Model : G335.

Ive tried to download the sound driver from the website but half way through installing it i get a message saying something about a Microsoft Bus Driver.

Any ideas?? Thanks.

this is your friends laptop right? If he bought it brand new, it should've came with drivers for certain things. Obvioulsy, if he doesnt have these or they didnt come with the computer, then the next thing i would try is to go to what ever driver it was that i needed, i would go to that website. Then, i would try and run a windows update.
