I have a "Microsoft wireless optical desktop 1000" set. I was told, whilst the PC was off, unplug the PS2 mouse & K/board, then plug in the wireless receiver and switch on the PC. I did that and got nothing. I pressed the connect button on the receiver and the mouse and still nothing. I went to the Microsoft web site and followed the instructions to enter the bluetooth program on my PC, but my PC doesn't see the mouse & K/board. I have been told not to install the disk that came with the desktop set because it only applies to windows XP and earlier, not Vista, and it may conflict.

Again, can someone please help me out.

I would try installing the software (while under the rule of a standard keyboard/mouse) irregardless. You can always remove the software if it doesn't work. Vista is still full of holes and bugs, just like any other Windows release.
