i posted this in the hardware forum by mistake. oops

Low performance after installing new graphics driver: ForceWare Release 90
    Version: 91.31. from Nvidia

after I installed version 91.31 i seem to have much less quality with images and video. I did not have the issue before installing. My display seems brighter but some icons and images ,video,, seem of a lesser quality than before.
I see gradients instead of smooth rendering and some text appears to be blurred.
I have an example screenshot of my problem if needed here :

The background gradient from white into off white, and the mozilla logo shows gradients rather than smooth shading going from orange to yellow.
It was never like this before. any ideas

I dont understand why it has changed.

    I run my display at 32bit 1280x1024 75hertz

    I have a Geforce 6200 256mb ddr2
    windows xp proffessional
    amd 1.3ghz processor
    1024mb ram.
samsung syncmaster 913n 19" tft lcd
I have rolled back to my previous driver but that did not fix the issue.

    Please help

You could try uninstalling that driver and loading this older version:

    Windows XP/2000 32-bit
    Version: 84.21
    Release Date: March 17, 2006

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

    Driver Installation Hints

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.

Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.
You could also try your Display Settings via: right clicking My Computer then click Properties

Advanced > Performance > Settings > Visual Effects > Adjust for best appearance

the 84.21 driver is the one ive actually gone back to and is installed at the moment.

Its only the disabling of anti virus that I havent tried while installing, i have norton anti virus 2005.. Do I just disable auto protect?? or is there another way to disable the whole program?

And ive tried every setting I possibly can to no avail. best perfromance/best appearance etc

    thanks for your response.

ok i've reinstalled 84.21 without norton running and im still having the same issues.

I noticed it mostly shows .gif's as grainy low quality pics

the mozilla logo there is a .gif

however the DAL title at the top of this page is a jpeg,, which also looks grainy to me

Im starting to loose the plot ....

I hope this isnt gonna be one of those unsolvable issues..

before I intstalled the new nvidia driver jun 06 everything looked perfect.(yes i uninstalled all previous versions).

Try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

everything is looking perfectly ok now....

It just fixed itself when i turned my pc on today... i didnt do anything between yesterday and today... heh.. bloody computers

my screen looks extra clear now.... what caused the problem? I'll never know

Its almost like there was a week or so delay on my pc before the new drivers etc actually started working.. weird

    thanks
