thats the error that i get when i try to install the driver and the default driver from ati

its a new video card, i just got it, x1600 ATI AGP 256MB 8X

Did you uninstall the old drivers? Were they ATI?

ATI has a driver cleaner:

The Catalyst Uninstaller is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation.

Also it is suggested to turn off anti virus plus any download accelerators.

I removed all the drivers and everything, and used that uninstaller and i restarted and tried the CD driver and got that message again.

Are you trying to install the latest ATI driver:

Do you have SP2 & .Net Framework?
