hi, welcome to DAL, have you got any disks with your computer?
If you have, look for one with the sound card drivers on, often called "drivers + utilities" or may be "recovery disk"

If not, what is the make + model of your pc?

If it is custom made, a Time or Tiny computer, or you have had a different sound card plugged in, run the DAL hardware scan: http://www.d-a-l.com/hardware-scan.php
and copy what it says under "sound card"

Packard Bell would be the best source of drivers but I cannot find a iMedia Z869.

Are you sure that this is correct?

i did not find anything on that model, i searched google for the sound card

    Sound Card:
    PropertyValue
    Manufacturer Microsoft
    Description Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device
    Device ID MODEMWAVE\0\{5C08989F-DDB0-42DB-A692-8DFF8AF3195B}

    Manufacturer Realtek
    Description Multimedia Audio Controller
    Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_E0048086&REV_02\3&267 A616A&0&FD
these are 2 seperate devices arnt they?

where are your speakers plugged in; near where the monitor, keyboard, mouse etc are or near the bottom? (possibly near a modem if you have/have had dial-up)

i think that model is correct because google came up with this:
... iMedia Z869. Product Features: Everything—hardware, software is in the box. ... Computer Specifications. Model, iMedia Z869. Chassis, Allegra Micro ATX. ..
the link didnt work though: http://www.packardbell-ap.com/produc...D=1&SpecID=366

The "Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device" you have for sound, is not a sound card, but the modem speaker/audio. Go Start->Settings->Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices->Audio tab, then under sound playback (default device) change it to your sound card, i.e. not the modem. If the modem is the only one listed there you may have to reinstall your sound card drivers.
This driver is from INTEL for the D865PESO motherboard which you have:
