I have a Toshiba laptop, A25-S207. After it got a virus, the sound stopped working. At first I tried to fix the sound by looking at different settings on my computer, but it always said that everything was working fine. Then I tried to install the soundmax driver again (from a Toshiba support site), but it said that it could not install because the sound driver could not be found. What can be done to restore my sound to working order?

A lot of people seem to be having trouble with sound on Toshiba laptops. I've searched the old posts in the D-A-L.com forum but they are different models or different problems to yours.

Have you got a driver CD or a restore CD that came with the laptop? Sometimes even a full restore CD will allow you to install just a driver from it (if you browse through the files on the CD in Windows Explorer).
