Sound Driver Help
I recently had a new motherboard installed on my pc because of various driver problems including the loss of sound, I'm assuming a new soundcard and videocard was included as drivers are not the same as before. So when I got it back from the repairers the sound is very low in volume although settings are up to the max..I've looked at device manager for any conflicts but theres none shown and I've checked for driver updates but none neither.
my new soundcard is: "C-Media AC97 Audio Device" previously "Avance Audio AC97"
Any suggestions on what to try next?
Also I noticed when reconnecting my pc, I had to plug the desktop speakers into a different colour port than I did before usually I'd have them plugged into the bottom orange one but now need to connect them to the top light blue one."Dont know if that relivant or not..lol"
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Sound Card: C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Video Card: SiS

First off the repairer should have fixed it. That being said what is the make and model of the motherboard? Did you get a CD with it?
Basic speakers are usually a green plug and port (line out). The blue is line in. The pink is for a microphone or a multi channel line out (if set in the BIOS as such).
Why do you have to plug into a certain port? Are the plugs/ports not compatible

Motherboard is: where do i find this info???
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.80GHz
System Model:AWRDACPI

Sorry no idea about the plugs I just plugged the speakers into the corrosponding port that being orange, but when i got it back from the shop i noticed on the audio settings software "c-media, Xear3D" that i was to put the speakers into the blue or green port, also just checked the line in/out settings i cant actually change them as im unable to click on it.

Sorry I just realized you mentioned a sound card
I was thinking you were on-board.
Can you ID the exact model of the card?
Perhaps under the Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc | Sound
Or dxdiag: Start/Run/ dxdiag | Sound
Or this scan under multimedia: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Sorry I am coming up kinda blank at the moment. C-Media AC97 Audio Device appears to me as the chipset on your card rather than the Sound Card itself. I just wish I could see the ports on the card.
My guess is that your speaker jack is somehow not compatible.
The only other troubleshooting options that I find are reloading the drivers.
Did you get a CD for the card? c-media, Xear3D?
Did they give you a box or anything that Id's this sound card?
There are alternative drivers and some other issues covered in this search:
