Hi,im new to the forum would like some information please.

i have an external hard drive and have put alot of my own music ect on it,if i gave it or sold it to someone else how could i stop them copying the data on the drive to another drive or simular

If you want to remove the data you can Format the drive. Right click on the letter under My Computer and choose Format.

If you want retain the data but stop another computer from seeing it you could encrypt your files.
How you do this depends on your Operating System. With XP Professional the option is on every file and folder: Right click then choose Properties > General > Advanced > Encrypt
