Ac97 no sound from speaker, but sound from s/pdif

    Hi All,

My notebook has an onboard vinyl ac97 sound card. It uses SIS video driver and SIS chipset. The cpu is AMD Sempron. Operating system is XP. I get no sound from my speaker (nor from speacker jack). But there is sound from s/pdif. I have updated the sound, video and chipset drivers to the latest version. The sound still comes out from the s/pdif jack even if I uncheck the "Enable S/PDIF output" check box in the VIA Audio Deck panel. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with it?

    Thanks.

more than likely its not a driver problem but a jack problem. YOur best bet if its under warranty is to contact the manufacturer and get some help, and if needed an RMA

    Hi SpikeRedBull:

Thanks for your help. But the internal speakers of the notebook is not working as well? Do you think problem in jack could also cause malfunction of the internal speakers?
