Audio sounds wrong
have a Compaq Desktop Pro running Windows 2000 Pro. I recently updated all my drivers via Internet Update. Audio worked perfectly for up to 30 minutes then just cut off and the only way to get audio back was to reboot. So I am now back with the original driver. AC'97 Driver for Intel(r) 82801AA Controller. Now all the sounds are speeded up. I put a CD in and it was like an old 33 played at 45 (remember vinyl?) Same with game sounds. Any ideas? I guess updating again would just give me the same old problem again

Did you uninstall the new driver before re-installing the old driver? They need to be uninstalled before going back.

Hi Tassie. Thanks for replying. I actually had this problem to start with when I first installed 2000. That's why I tried an update to see if it would fix. But anyway, yes I uninstalled first.

Heres the list of drivers down the page a bit. Maybe try another one? http://www.opendrivers.com/categoryc...-download.html

Well, I went through all of those. It now cuts off again after so long......

you said you had this problem when you first installed 2000? What did you have before that and did it work ok then?

I was originally using Windows 98 SE. That was installed when I bought the computer (pre-owned)
