Re: wireless card - intermittent connection, a driver problem?
I would uninstall the current driver first. Then try your methods again.
Maybe search will work then. Or:
I would guess the best path would be:
Don't search: I will choose.
Point to the AMD8211 file.
If that still won't load point directly in the file at AMD8211.sys

it didn't let me pick just that file.. i even tried putting that file in its own folder, picking that folder..but then OK was grayed out! I went ahead and tried one of the AMDtek drivers listed (my bro says he actually used a linksys one) installed it, rebooted like it said... and now... the wireless network connection is GONE from "my network places" AHHH!!! How do I get it back?

Uninstall & reboot.
This should always reload the Microsoft driver.
I am looking for a linksys driver altho haven't found one yet.

didnt know how to uninstall it without actually having the icon for it in "my network places".. but anyways... i just gave up
I switched it back to my old card. That one's been giving me trouble for 6 months (very very very long story short, it'd either not notice the network in range, recognize it but refuse to connect, connect with no internet connection, and if i was lucky, actually work properly!) but the drivers on the disk work! LOL! Anyways, I'm using that now and have my high speed back! I figure i can deal with resetting the router every once in a while for one more month..then we're moving and we're going to have a WIRED network YAY! Thanks for all your help!!

You can find your devices & drivers via the device manager:
Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc
OK ... good luck ... that Linksys driver appears to be all they have so I would imagine that it is what your brother used.
Anyway ... Glad to help ... to try at least ...
