    hard disk drive not detected

I have installed a 20gb hdd in my fathers pc. 64mb) I have had it working adn installed the printer and and Norton Internet security but not registered it. I tested the printer and I then shut it down. A week later I attached a flat screen and 256mb ram and resterted it. It wont start in anything other than safe mode. The Windows screen freezes as it loads.
I put the old ram back and the old monitor but still the same. Will only start in safe mode. I have checked the devices properties and a and c drives are running with ms-dos compatibility settings. The drivers attached to the devices are esdi_506.pdr. If I try and ask it to search for new hardware or drivers it only gives me the a: prompt and wont see the Windows CD. I have looked at the ios.log file in the Windows folder and there are no "failed" messages although I dont really know what I am looking at. How can I get it to see the drives. I am terrified of MS DOS and definately not a teckie. Can anyone assist. Oh yes the system is showing it as having 24mb ram too. I have not updated any bios or registry.
Would it be easier to format the drive and start again- would this solve my problem?

    What is your Operating System?

Untill you get this stabilized remove the printer.

Are you sure that RAM was compatible & that the board would support it?

Alot of possibilities but we need to know what the OS is first.

    Also run this scan:

For right now just post back what is listed under Main Circuit Board
