I recently upgraded Windows ME to Windows XP Pro. After the install, my DVD-ROM drive wouldn't work. I went to Samsung and downloaded the firmware for Win XP. When I rebooted my PC it froze on the DELL logo screen and wouldn't boot into Windows. I currently have the DVD-ROM drive unplugged because the PC won't boot up with it plugged in. How do I go about deinstalling the bad firmware in order to boot up my PC correctly?
Ok, I have found a note on the web that a bad flash can destroy the DVD-Rom drive. not good news. I have downloaded and will attached the old firmware.
The problem with the update program is that it requires Windows and you cant boot to windows. Per Samsung, if you cant boot, you need to take the drive to a service center to be repaired. Here is the Phone number:
1800-SAMSUNG
The attached firmware is the old firmware that came with the drive.
