CD burner won't run in XP
Hi group, I need help... I have XP pro, which has drivers for my printers, scanner etc but not my (Adaptec) Mitsumi CR 4804TE CD burner. The install CD won't load them. Are there drivers available somewhere that will work in XP?
thanks much,
Max

You don't need manufacturer's drivers for any cd-writer in Windows 98, ME, or XP.
Windows installs it's own drivers for these devices, regardless of make or model.
The drive is identified by it's own firmware. If Windows can't 'see' it, it's not a driver
issue. The problem lies somewhere else. Your cd-writer is quite old (I had a 4804 four years ago worked fine in Win 98). new writers are much cheaper now so your easiest solution would be to replace it with a better, faster model with a better brand name.

I can see what you're getting at here Pip22. Windows doesn't need drivers for it to recognise the drive and, for example, display it as a CDROM drive in Windows Explorer.
It's your CD recording software such as Nero or Easy CD Creator that needs to understand exactly what kind of drive you've got, Jaguar. But therein lies another benefit - Windows XP has its own CD-recording utility (I think) so you don't even need to install your old software (which is probably what the root of the problem really is because your software isn't XP-compatible).
Hope that helps.

Hello,
i was searching in my CDs when i found a driver that i downloaded from the internet and it worked fine with me, i was trying to search for it again to send you the link i wasn't able to find it, so i think it will be much easier if you send me you email so i can send it to you, OR if you have some place that i could publish the driver to it that would be much better, My Email is ms_back@hotmail.com, also i have attached it to this email, if you have any problem with it just tell me, have fun
