Have you seen this:
Win XP Recovery
Is this the disk you have?
If so read this & all options & I will do the same.
I see that there is also a recovery partition on your hard drive.
Again this will reinstall XP meaning it will delete all other data on the drive.
If you need to get stuff off the drive consider this first.
-
Yes, I read it. It's starting to look like reinstalling windows is my only option.
I'm still concerned about the Agobot worm. That's why I was considering replacing the hard drive. Clicking "fix" on 3 items in Hijack This seems to easy to be rid of it!
-
Running the recovery:
All your existing data will be lost.
That includes worms
fwiw:
Backdoor.Agobot.05.c [KAV

I ran the recovery disk, reinstalled windows, reinstalled AOL, just had another "restart" what the hell!!!???
-
I would start thinking about the hardware.
You will find Samsung Diagnostics here:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
You will see 2 tools relavent to your situation:
Samsung Disk Manager 10.42 (12.30.2003)
Some old BIOSs have a capacity barrier and does not recognize the high capacity HDD. In that case, the Disk Manager will solve the capacity barrier.
&
SHDIAG (Diagnostic for Old Drives) v1.25
This program is used to diagnose the disk when the SAMSUNG hard disk is suspected to have failures. It is strongly recommended to back up your data before using this program!
As to your RAM you can try this:
Windows Memory Diagnostic
Also you can try using your RAM in a different slot.
As to checking your drive & cpu temps you can use this program & look under: Computer: Sensor

Are all your fans working?
If the OS is not the problem then most likely it is heat from some component.
Was that the original Hard Drive on the machine?
How is it partitioned?
You can see this by right clicking My Computer then click Manage then Disk Management.
-
I think it's your power supply. My computer would restart spontaneously and even turn itself on after I shut it off before I replaced mine. I got a cheap $50 power supply from newegg.com as a replacement (500w)

your problem is ram, you have bad ram.
