Audio driver (don't know which one to install)
Since I reformated my hard drive I dont know which is the correct audio driver to install for my sound card. Another problem is that I dont really know which sound card I have. How can I know which is my sound card?
-
if you run the dal hardware scan it should tell you in there ,
please just copy it into here and il try and find your drivers . . .
-
Before we reformated the PC the speakers worked, but now it shows that we dont have a sound card... look at the scan results.

That scan did not find your audio device.
Try looking in the Device Manager: rt. click My Computer then click manage then device manager then Sound, video, game controllers
Or try running Everest
Look under multimedia there.
-
Under Multimedia in EVEREST I clicked PCI/PnP Audio. It showed an PCI item called: Intel 82801DB(M) ICH4(-M) - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-0].
Is that my audio card?

I would first suggest going into Device Manager & click on your sound device.
You should see this same chip. rt click it & choose update driver.
If there is no driver to update then try this one:
http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/205/205636.htm
-
I downloaded this folder 82801DB_DBM_DA_AC97.zip and inside this one, there was another one named ac97ich4_and_more, and inside this one I found to archives named:
ac97ich4.sys
oem34.inf
- Did I downloaded the correct one?

there are good instructions here:
http://www.totallydrivers.com/resour...stallation.asp
any problems with the above leaves the alternative to search the site of your computer manufacturer for driver downloads.
search make & model for audio drivers.
