DELL 720 printer: drivers to work on a Mac???
Hi all,
I was recently sold a Dell 720 Photo Printer, and was told it would work on a Mac. Annoyingly, I have found that this is not, on the face of it, entirely true - it only works on Win XP and 2000, the manual says.
I was told that the Dell 720 is equivalent to the Lexmark z615, but after getting a driver from the Lexmark site, my iMac - which is running OS 10.3.6 - still won't recognise the printer. The Lexmark installation program doesn't give me any options of which printers to install, and if I tell my iMac to recognise the Dell as a Generic Postscript Printer it doesn't do anything either.
Is there anything I can do to make the Dell work on a Mac, or should I be resigned to just having it work on a PC?
Would appreciate any ideas - thanks very much in advance.

Re: DELL 720 printer: drivers to work on a Mac???
sorry bad news i found this on the web i think it awnsers you question
Purchased this printer in a Dell PC Package and successfully installed Linux
Fedora alongside Windows XP. But cannot find any reference to printer in
foomatic database and no sign of any Linux drivers/PPD files on the (Windows
XP) printer installation disk. Have tried many possible alternative printer
drivers but none work. Linux recognises printer as /dev/usb/lp0 "Dell Deskjet
720" but always get the same message "Media Tray Empty" whatever generic
printer/filter I try. Printer works fine with Windows XP. Have seen many
complaints about this printer on Dell Website. Has anyone any knowledge of how
I can make this printer work with Linux please?

Sorry looks like it's not supported. As you said only Windows 2000 & Windows XP are supported.
