hi all,
I was trying to bridge two of my network connections but as soon as I add my working ethernet into the network bridge I lose internet connection.
I was poking around and found that (1) In Network Connections in control panel, I cant see the MAC bridge miniport that would let the devices in the network bridge talk. (2) when i go see device manangement (devmgmt.exe) i cant see mac bridge in my network adapters list (3) when i run windows services (services.msc) I cant see anything to do with a MAC bridge (4) when i go to system information >network adapters, i cant see a mac bridge either
but
(5) in system information > software environment > system drivers , i can see that i have a MAC bridge miniport driver with values started = no and state=stopped.

I have tried a lot and cant figure out how to bring it online. I even looked to see if i can reinstall it but i havent figured out how.

i would greatly appreciate any help

Hi all, a follow up on that, i managed to install the mac bridge miniport driver from add remove hardware by selecting all system drivers from microsoft and now i can see mac miniport bridge running everywhere and the bridge icon in the network connections but now, system information shows that while mac bridge miniport is running mac bridge is not (they are apparently different but seem to have the same kernel driver file as shown there). i dont know if that is significant, but the problem still remains that i lose internet connection as soon as i put my ethernet connection into the bridge only getting it back when i take it out of the bridge.
what should i do now? how can i bridge another adapter with my ethernet and share the internet (and of course, still remain connected in teh first place !)

i really need to bridge this connection to get colinux running in my system with xp for which i need to bridge a TapWin32 driver with my ethernet to give it internet access. But for now, i'm just trying to bridge the ethernet with either my wireless or firewire or infrared and am being unable to maintain internet connectivity with either of those bridges

i would appreciate any help here
