I have a ECS elitegroup LCD monitor EZ17C. As far as I can tell there is no specific driver for this monitor. This presents me a bit of a problem. I am running a Radeon 9600XT graphics card. To get the card to do something specific I need to let the card know that it is using and LCD, only way to do this is to have an LCD driver (also know my monitor can deal with more than 72Hz refresh rate, default windows driver does not allow higher, would be nice to use it!).
So the question is, is there a specific driver for this monitor? Or if not is there a generic LCD monitor driver?
Hi, not too sure whether this will work but try replacing your video card driver with the specific R9600XT driver from the elite group website, link follows...
Nope no sucess. Card didn't like drivers, not too surprised though. Built PC myself and I def have the correct drivers for card. Am going to run AIDA32 on my machine tonight and see what results I get back from that. Have a feeling that it will just tell me what I already know, but it may come up with a different monitor, in which case I will try those drivers.
Sorry, I don't own a LCD monitor yet so I'm a bit stumped. This may seem silly but have you tried a Windows update? I'm sure there must be a driver hiding somewhere!
Windows update has been run and everything is up to date. Also forcing update to list all drivers reveals that my manufacturer of monitor is not listed.
Same person as before, just registered at home as well. Have run that software as promised and attached results. As you can see it is what I was NOT hoping for!! Anyone able to help? Although hopefully there is some detail that can help??
Hi I've already written a solution, but it seems it got lost, so Ill quickly re-write it.
1. most probably you are using the plug&play monitor driver. If so update the driver:
go to control panel/system/hardware/drivers and update the monitor driver to a generic 1280x1024 driver. I used the microsoft driver 5.1.2001.0 dated 2001.06.06 which you will probably be able to find pre-installed on any XP.
This will solve some of the problems, like refresh rate 75Hz etc, but I found that the picture still remained fuzzy, blurred etc..
2. If you have a video card which can manage syncronisation then that will be the next thing to adjust.
I have an ati radeon DVI, so I'll go through the proceedure according to this:
click on display properties (in the control panel or on the desktop)/ click special and go into the ATI label properties /displays.
Locate the ECS display and click on it
In properties adjust the resolution to 1280x1024 if needed and also the refresh rate to 75Hz.
Click on the special tab and adjust syncronisation: horizontal + vertical - and make sure that combined sync is left untouched.
This should solve all problems and the picture will become cripy clear. I have tried a lot of other settings but this one remained to look the best alternative. Although I do not see any related dangers involved in these changes DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, NO GUARANTEE AND I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. okay
Ide be interested to hear how it worked out, or if anybody has a better solution.
