Cut "n" Pate
Hi, problems cutting and pasting, copy something off the web (mainly ebay invoices) and then try and paste them into Microsoft word 2000 and the egg timer just sits there and sits there.
No probs cutting and pasting everything else just this.... and was doing this up until yesterday when it has just stopped working.
Any ideas???
Oh yeh, intsalled the microsoft word cd and tried to fix errors.... no joy! (no errors I mean)
Thanks

Do you have Microsoft Frontpage or Frontpage Express installed? I wonder if you could copy and paste from a web page into one of those instead? Or maybe any old free HTML editor that you could download off the Internet?
Do you have problems copying plain text off of Ebay or does it just have issues when graphics are involved?
Ah, maybe that's your problem. You said you are "cutting and pasting" - you can't 'cut' something from a web page - you can only 'copy' it.

Hi, thank you for your reply, sorry I think I was copying... just practised on your reply and the only option is copy.
Just done it on this text and got undo/cut/copy/delete and select all so it must have been copy I was selecting.
Tell you what I done this morning that seems to have semi cured it, cant remember where I done it but I went for the "clear clipboard" option, got a window up (small one) and it had 3 squares in it, the first had a global symbol so I cleared that and it appears ok.... make sense??

Ah, I see. Office 2000 (Word 2000, Excel 2000, etc) has a multiple clipboard feature. In the old days of Word 97, you could copy something and paste it but, if you copied a second thing, the first thing you copied would be forgotten and you could only paste the second thing in. This was nice and simple and easy for anyone to understand. Then, one day, someone came up with a bright idea of having a multiple copy and paste facility. Now you can copy as much as you like and then you get to play "have a lucky guess at which one it's going to paste".
Blooming annoying to most people. Looks like your "clever" multiple clipboard got a bit clogged up and confused. Well done for sorting it - I wouldn't have thought of that

Microsoft is aware of this problem.
Check out this link:

In short, make sure your Word program is open before you select, and "copy and paste," anything on the internet.
Alternatively, you can fix the problem once and for all by deleting an entry in Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs" but decreasing somewhat the capability of the Microsoft Works Suite toolbar.
