So I go out and buy a onn microphone for about $5 then come back in plug it in, well the computer makes no noise saying it would recognize it and it dosent pop up when im trying to use ventrilo (trying to talk to my buddies while playing World of Warcraft) the mic does not come up and it is not being read at all and I dont know how on earth to get it to work so could I get some help

Have you tried using XP's hardware wizard to see if windows can find your microphone.
