    Audacity: Recording radio programmes

    Hi,

I used to record radio programmes with Audacity.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 - an operating system that appears to have rendered almost everything on my PC - printer, email account etc - obsolete or inactive.

I downloaded the latest Audacity - which has 'provisional support' for W7 - but it doesn't work. Does anyone know of another free program that I could use? I downloaded a couple - Freecorder and another whose name already escapes me - but I couldn't get them to work, either.

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful. This being Windows 7 I suspect I may have to wait till other software providers finally get round to catching up - or just shove a tape recorder up again the speakers.

    Cheers!

    Hi Corinda,

I stream radio daily, have never wanted to record it, however I googled your issue and found this link. Read the review here which makes it look easy.

I do not have Windows 7 but here are the System Requirement
    System Requirements

    * Windows 7, Vista or XP.
    * Firefox 2.0 or later, or Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
    * 6 MB of disk space
    * Supports HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Use Replay Media Catcher for more protocols.
Let me know what you think of it. All the above came from here

I also found a forum which looks interesting if you are wanting assistance with recording. Click on Support > Discussion Forum to get to the forum.

    kind regards,

    Hi Tallin.

Many thanks for the information. It all looks very useful and I'll give it a whirl.

However, since posting my original request, I found an Audacity-related forum and, by following various links, have managed to get my Audacity program working, There was a problem with 'Stereo Mix' not being visible/enabled in Windows 7. (Which, I have to confess, meant nothing to me.)

I was able to locate and enable it, following which Audacity began working again.

But I'll see if I can get one of the other systems up and running, too - as back-up.

In the meantime, thanks for taking the trouble. I appreciate it.

Glad you got Audacity going with Windows 7.

Let me know if you download and install Freecorder. Yes, it is always good to have a backup.

    kind regards,
