Can anyone please help? i had a security tool virus attack my toshiba satellite pro 400 laptop and had real trouble getting rid of it but i eventually did by installing anti spyware, anti maleware and a cleaner. It has now gone but since this has happened i have lost my desk top icons and i have been unable to put them back on my main screen.
I have tried doing ctrl+alt+dlt then putting in the task bar explorer.exe file in c:/windows
i've also tried putting in regedit and going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ so on and so fourth, then delete the file explorer.exe then reboot.
I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers and the language you use but if explained to me simply i can do what is asked.
Please can someone help me as it is now driving me mad and i dont know what else to do and who else to turn to.
Any advice will be very much apreciated thanks.

If it was my Laptop I would read this link and follow along with the recommendations by posting a HJT log to the correct forum. An expert will pick up your log and advise you from there.
